[Press Release] Dareesoft to Supply AI-Based Road Hazard Information Solution to Canada’s Emcon

October 23, 2024 (Wed) – Dareesoft Co., Ltd. (Co-CEOs Jeong Man-sik and Betty Row) announced that it will supply its AI-based road hazard information service, ‘RiaaS (Road hazard information as a Service),’ to Emcon, a leading road maintenance company in Canada.
Emcon has been providing road maintenance services across Canada since 1988. Through this partnership, Emcon plans to use Dareesoft’s RiaaS to detect and manage road hazards in Alberta over the next 10 years.
Dareesoft’s RiaaS solution is a groundbreaking improvement over traditional road maintenance methods. Previously, road maintenance personnel had to physically patrol roads, visually inspect hazards, and manually record data—a process that incurred high labor costs, was time-consuming, and was prone to human error and safety risks.
In contrast, RiaaS is an end-to-end solution that integrates AI technology for road hazard detection, data transmission, analysis, and visualization. By simply mounting the AI road analysis device, ‘ARA,’ on a vehicle, the system can detect and collect data on over 20 types of road hazards—including potholes, cracks, and debris—in real time. This data is then transmitted to a cloud-based platform for instant analysis.
Road managers can efficiently address hazards using a web-based monitoring system and an on-site response application. With AI-powered rapid and accurate reporting, RiaaS automates road maintenance procedures, enhancing operational efficiency and road safety. In particular, faster response times to road hazards will significantly contribute to preventing traffic accidents and congestion, while also playing a crucial role in developing future autonomous driving environments.
Dareesoft stated that this partnership with Emcon marks a significant milestone in its global market expansion. The company is currently conducting paid pilot projects in various regions worldwide, including Inyo County (USA), Romania, the UAE, and Peru, with further business expansion anticipated.
Betty Row, Co-CEO of Dareesoft and head of its North American operations, commented, “This collaboration with Emcon marks our successful entry into the North American market. Moving forward, we aim to enhance road hazard management automation and efficiency on a global scale through RiaaS. By doing so, we expect to improve road safety in more regions and drive growth in advanced technology sectors such as smart cities and autonomous driving.”
